ARCHERY SEASON PREP

WITH PHIL MENDOZA

It’s that time of year again where the days get longer, and the nicer weather invites us to take our activities back outside. Getting prepared for an upcoming hunt or competition has many facets to tackle and we know that we can trust WA to guide us in the nutritional and fitness side of things. Today, I want to give a few tips for the bowhunting crowd that I’ve seen make a difference on the mountain and in competition. My name is Phil Mendoza, I own No Limits Archery in Denver, Colorado and I run the Alpha Bowhunting Challenge.

I am a firm believer in focusing on the basics as an archer to be able to see continual progress. There are many small aspects of a bowhunters toolbox that are often not well understood, usually because they weren’t explained properly.  One of the big issues I see regularly is that bowhunters are not prepared to deal with shooting with an elevated heart rate. Most practice situations fall under “Perfect Conditions” and we all know that hunting with a bow in your hand is anything but easy and opportunities are seldom ideal. I have put together a few tips to help any bowhunter looking to get ready for an upcoming Train to Hunt, Alpha Bowhunting Challenge event or an upcoming hunt where adrenaline and excitement is sure to be included.
